What personal data European Safety Guide processes, why, and what your rights are under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Who is responsible

The data controller is Safety Courses LLC, 5203 Juan Tabo Blvd NE, Ste 2B, Albuquerque, NM 87111-2691, USA. Data protection enquiries: [email protected].

When you read the guide

You can read every guide without an account. This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies and loads no third-party scripts or fonts.

Our web server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, time, page requested and browser type) to keep the site secure and working. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.

If you register for the free academy

Registration is optional. If you create a free academy account, we process:

  • your name and email address, which you enter in the registration form;
  • your learning progress and test results;
  • the certificates of completion issued to you (name, course, date and certificate ID).

We use this data to create and run your account, to save your progress, to issue and verify your certificate, and to send you messages about your account. Legal basis: providing the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Before you register we ask you to confirm that you have read this notice. Any other emails are sent only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

A signed-in session uses a strictly necessary cookie that keeps you logged in. We do not sell your personal data.

If you take a free course

Before a free course starts we ask for your email address. We store it together with the course, the language you chose, your progress through the modules and your final test result. We use it to email you your result and information on how to get a certificate. Legal basis: providing the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). If you also tick the optional box, we send you news about new free courses; this is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time through the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to us. This data is kept for up to 24 months after your last activity, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

Who receives the data

Service providers acting on our behalf, such as hosting and email services. Links to official sources and to course websites take you to other sites with their own privacy policies; if you buy a course there, that website's privacy policy applies.

Transfers outside the EU

The data controller is a US company, and some service providers may process data outside the EU/EEA, in particular in the United States. Transfers rely on the providers' own transfer mechanisms, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active; you can ask us to delete your account at any time. Certificate records are kept as long as needed to show that the training was completed and to verify the certificate.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive your data in a portable format, as provided by applicable law. You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the EU country where you live. To use your rights, email [email protected].
